I've always wanted to be a part of a group of believers as yours. I used to be part of a parachurch organization, but after getting married I stopped being involved and joined local churches as we moved around a lot. How did you start your fellowship? I belong to a church but want something more out of my Christian walk.

Anonymous,
HomeStar began with a core group of eleven individuals who wanted to explore doing and being church outside the box of "traditional" church. Most of those eleven were long-time Baptists and members of traditional churches. We started meeting together, having conversations about church and read several books together. The first book we read was A New Kind of Christian by Brian McLaren. Our weekly gatherings included discussion about what we had read in the previous week. Several books and discussions later, we forged ahead with plans for a church that would include creative Bible study/worship, and a commitment to pour more of our time, focus and resources (including finances) into local and global missions/ministry opportunities, rather than spending our resources on building a mega church and large church campus.
We would welcome you to join us on a Sunday evening at 5:00pm if you would like to explore and learn more about our fellowship. Please let me know if you would like more information than what is included on the website.
thanks for writing,
Jan
